Duval Youth Tennis Program
The Youth Tennis Foundation of Florida sponsors youth tennis programs at the C.T. Brown Tennis Center in Jacksonville, providing young players with an opportunity to learn and develop their tennis skills in a supportive environment.
Fall 2024 – Spring 2025
The C.T. Brown Center in Jacksonville was once again filled with eager youth ready to learn the game of tennis. Both programs were primarily comprised of beginner players.
Dudley Mahout, a USPTA-certified instructor, led the additional coaches and players in the Duval Youth Tennis Program, offering students continued private and small group lessons.
Spring 2024
The C.T. Brown Center in Jacksonville was once again filled with eager youth ready to learn the game of tennis. The program averaged 16 youth, who primarily were beginner players.
A core group of 6–8 youth returned for each session and moved from the beginner group into the intermediate group.
Dudley Mahout, a USPTA-certified instructor, joined the Duval Youth Tennis Program, offering students continued private and small group lessons.
Fall 2023
The Fall 2023 Duval Youth Tennis Program, previously called the Jacksonville Program, was held at the C.T. Brown Center in Jacksonville.
An average of 18 children participated in the program, with the high reaching 26 young players.
YTF Board member Brent Todd reported that most of the participants were returning players from their first tennis program in 2021.
Summer 2021
In 2021, the sessions ran on Friday evenings from 6:00–7:30 PM. The peak turnout was 16 participants, with an average of 12 kids per session.
Coach Dave (David Graves) and Coach Bishop (G.D. Jefferson) worked with participants on tennis fundamentals, while Coach Todd (Brent Todd) worked with the youngest group on hand-eye coordination skills.
Parents were very pleased with the program, and YTF looked forward to expanding the program to include junior high school ages. Future sessions would also utilize advanced players as assistants.
